Why Go Dairy Free?

dairy free foods

Did you know it’s healthy to go dairy-free? Although dairy does have some of its own health benefits, we don’t necessarily need it in our diets. This is because many of the health benefits found in dairy foods are also available in other foods and drinks on the market today in ways that our bodies … Read more

The Truth about Celiac Disease

A summary of a recent Living Without article May 7, 2012

Any time you have a medically ordered dietary restriction, life changes. Things that most people take for granted, such as grabbing a quick snack while out and about or enjoying the buffet at the office party, become potentially life-threatening adventures. There is so much information, and mis-information, about living with celiac disease. How do you sort through the constant barrage of gluten-free data?

I recently read an excellent article in Living Without where they lay out seven of the top myths associated with Celiac Disease. No place for Aspartame in Gluten-free Baked Goods!

Aspartame danger sign

If you don’t like people hopping on a soap box, then this particular post might not be for you. If you can handle a rant, read on because I’ve got a lot to say about why Aspartame has no place in any food product, anywhere!

After all of the research and anecdotal evidence that shows just how nasty this artificial sweetener can be, I can’t believe that we are still having the debate over Aspartame (You also know it as Nutra Sweet or Equal). That this additive has not been banned internationally is beyond reason.  (Actually, it’s not all that surprising when you hear a bit about the history of how this product was approved by the FDA in the first place.)
