Pear Tart

A wonderful lightly sweetened dessert for any time of day!
Cook Time 1 hour
Servings 6

Ingredients

  • Filling
  • 4-5 Medium very ripe pears
  • 1 Tbsp Lemon juice
  • 1 Tbsp cornstarch
  • 1-3 Tbsp light brown sugar depending on how sweet your pears are.
  • 1/8 tsp cinnamon
  • small pinch of salt
  • Crust
  • 1 cup Outrageous Baking flour
  • 2 tsp sugar
  • 1/8 tsp salt
  • 5 Tbsp Butter
  • 2 Tbsp buttermilk cream, or your choice of milk
  • 3 Tbsp ice water
  • Glaze
  • 1 tsp honey
  • 1/4 tsp hot water

Instructions

  • Peel pears and make 1/4 inch slices. Place in a bowl and mix with lemon juice, cornstarch, sugar and cinnamon.
  • Mix pie crust ingredients in a Cuisinart adding the cold water last.
  • Roll pie crust dough btwn saran wrap to make 6 inch circle, might look more oblong and that is ok
  • Place crust on parchment paper on a cookie sheet
  • Pile pear mixture in the middle leaving an inch around the edge to fold in.
  • Fold edge in (if crust breaks just put back together like play dough)
  • Bake at 425 for 15 minutes
  • Reduce heat to 350 and continue baking till crust in browned and pears are soft (approximately 45 more minutes)
  • Prepare glaze by mixing the honey and the hot water
  • Brush the edges of the crust and on top with the glaze and bake 5 more minutes
  • Cool before cutting about 1/2 hour

Notes

This tart is excellent alone but also is quite delicious with a scoop of your favorite ice cream, or yogurt.
